Yoga for everyone

I believe that health and happiness are closely linked to mindfulness, and activities which bring the mind and body together, like yoga, meditation and the Alexander Technique. These bring a deep and healing awareness of ourselves and the world around us.

The benefits of yoga are overwhelmingly positive and I believe it can be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of gender, level of fitness or culture. Choosing to walk this path will allow you to achieve a sense of ease and acceptance in your life.

Yoga is not only what we do on the mat but a philosophy of life which permeates all daily activities.  The foundation principle of “ahimsa” which is sanskrit for non-violence, means being kind and compassionate, first of all towards ourselves and then to others and the wider world.  I feel blessed to be able to share my journey with anyone who wishes to tread a similar path.

Join me on this journey.

Background

I moved to SW France in 2001 with my family in search of a simpler and more sustainable life closer to nature. I fell in love with this beautiful corner of the Aveyron because of its ancient oak & chestnut forests, wild river valleys and slow pace of life.

I’m a qualified teacher of Hatha Yoga, which I’ve been practising for over 30 years.  I have been privileged to train with Sarah Powers (yin & insight yoga); Judith Hanson-Lasater (restorative yoga, experiential anatomy & non-violent communication); Uma Dinsmore-Tuli (nidra & yoga for women); and Lisa Kaley-Isley (yoga for trauma). The yoga lineages I am most familiar with are Sivananda, Satchidananda, Iyengar and Scaravelli. I continue to do professional training and see my yoga practice as a life long journey.

I began a daily meditation practice in 2012 after doing a 6-day silent retreat with Martin Aylward, founder of Le Moulin de Chaves meditation center and the online meditation teaching platform Sangha Live. In 2017 I did a professional training in Mindful Self-Compassion with MindfulnessUK, recognised by the UK Government.

I did a three year (1500 hrs) training to be an Alexander Technique teacher, which is based on mindfulness in everyday activities and involves a psycho-physical reprogramming.

I would like to give my heart felt thanks to all my teachers, past, present and future. NAMASTE
